Delhi/Indira Gandhi International Airport

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IATA: DEL) in New Delhi is the busiest airport in India in terms of passenger traffic. The airport is situated 16 km (10 mi) south-west from the New Delhi city center and about 15 km (9 mi) from New Delhi Railway Station.

The Airport currently has three passenger terminals: Domestic Terminal T1, T2 and International Terminal T3.

DIAL shifted operations of GoAir to terminal T2 from 29th October 2017 in order to continue expansion work of T1.

The distance between terminal T1 and T3 is 8 km (4 mi). The free shuttle service is available from T3, near Pillar 9 and runs every 20 minutes, service is available 24x7. Pre-paid taxi booths are outside the terminal. Getting from T3 to T1 takes around 30-40 min depending on the traffic situation.

There are information counters in all terminals.

Terminal 3 was built in 2010 and it is the world’s 8th largest passenger terminal. The new Terminal 3 is a two-tier building with the lower floor being the arrivals area, and the upper floor being a departures area. The terminal has big duty-free shopping area, available to inbound as well as outbound travelers. There are currency exchange, ATM services, Airtel sim cards, Airport hotel, business lounges, medical facilities, disable facilities, baby care rooms, coffee shops and restaurants, etc. Free Wi-fi internet connectivity is available throughout all the passenger waiting areas. Users have to provide their mobile numbers as Wi-Fi passwords are sent by text message.

The airport is served by the Delhi Airport Metro Express train line, with trains running to the city center every 15 minutes. The journey time to central New Delhi is around 18 minutes. Passengers can purchase the tokens (tickets) or smart card from the ticket counters at the stations or automatic ticket issuing machine (TIM). The metro station is located at T3. Passengers arriving to Terminal 1 have to take a free shuttle bus to T3 in order to use metro services.

Express buses (route 4), operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation, run from the arrivals areas of the terminals to central Delhi, 24 hours a day. Journey time is around 50 minutes. All buses coming towards Terminal 3 arrive and depart from a staging area located opposite Centaur Hotel.

Terminal 1 is for domestic flights ( T1D Departures and T1C Arrival) and is currently used by low cost carriers IndiGo, SpiceJet and GoAir.
