Trivandrum International Airport (IATA: TRV) in Thiruvananthapuram, state of Kerala, is the second largest and second busiest airport in the state after Cochin International Airport. Trivandrum airport serves as shortest hopping point from India to Sri Lanka and Maldives.
The airport is situated approximately 3.7 km (2.3 mi) west from the city centre, 16 km (9.9 mi) from Kovalam beach and 13 km (8.1 mi) from Technopark Thiruvananthapuram. The journey time into the city is around 30 minutes depending on the traffic.
The airport has two terminals for passengers: Terminal 2 and newly built Terminal 3. Terminal 1 is no longer in use. Currently Terminal 2 operates domestic flights and Terminal 3 is used for international flight operations.
Both terminals are in walking distance from each other. Shuttle service is not provided.
The domestic terminal has basic amenities including cafés, a book-seller, phone-recharging points, etc. The facilities in the airport include information booths, bank, currency exchange bureau, internet kiosk, restaurants, snack bars, children care rooms, etc. A duty-free outlet and business class lounge is available in the international departures area. There are no business facilities and on-site hotels. However, Domestic Terminal has dormitory type accommodation and retiring rooms for transit passengers.
Public transport is available to reach the city or the Airport. Railway station of Trivandrum is located at a distance of 4.5 km (2.14 mi) from the international airport which is directly connected with road. Kerala State Road Transportation frequently runs bus No14, operating between Trivandrum International Airport and the city bus terminal at East Fort (near the Padmanabhaswamy Temple). City bus stand is located 6 km (3.13 mi) from the airport.
Prepaid taxi services with fixed rates are also available at the arrival areas of both terminals.
